Dags att uppdatera din Mac – Apple har släppt OS X El Capitan

iMoreA smarter, smoother, more sophisticated experience to the Mac

Based on both popular sentiment and the narrative from the last year, it’s clear that following a series of redesigns and re-architectures, everyone needed a moment to settle and breathe again. A “Snow Leopard moment”. El Cap gives us that, but like Snow Leopard is also gives us much more.

Ars TechnicaApple brings refinement

Really, this is the first time in several years that iOS and OS X have felt like they’ve gotten (and needed) the same amount of attention from Apple—both get to spend a release in the slow lane as Apple puts its marketing muscle behind newer platforms like the Apple Watch and the new Apple TV.

El Capitan marks an end to Apple’s relentless march forward, opting instead for a calm retrospective on the applications and underlying frameworks which have been the keystones of the operating system for years.

The VergeBack to the Mac, again

Virtually everybody with Yosemite will (and should) update. Virtually nobody will feel that their Mac experience has fundamentally changed, instead we’ll just see it get slightly nicer.

CNETA swifter, more streamlined take on OS X

If you’re wedded to the Apple ecosystem, your entire universe will become just a little more cohesive. El Capitan is more evolution than revolution, but it’s the next step in Apple’s relentless march towards efficiency, chock full of improvements along the way.

If you’re in a hurry, here’s the bottom line: Download and install El Capitan. There’s zero reason not to. Everything runs just as it did before. I couldn’t find a single app that didn’t run perfectly after the installation.

For the first time, I’ve even started to organize apps on virtual desktops, thanks to features that finally make Apple’s Spaces easier to use. In Mission Control, you can drag a window to the top of the screen to create a new desktop space. My email and calendar now have a permanent virtual home immediately to the right of my main desktop.

EngadgetA modest update, with some welcome changes

Apple’s newest browser, Safari 9, brings a few useful features, some more important than others. Starting with the bigger stuff, Safari adds pinned sites. If you’ve used a similar feature in other browsers like Chrome, the concept here should seem familiar: When you pin a tab, it shrinks down; it’s always open, with no “X” button allowing you to close it.

The Next WebThe rock-solid update Yosemite (and iOS) needed

It’s part of a revamped Window Management system, and lets you easily split your screen between two apps. A simple long-press on the green maximize icon in an app places it as half of your screen.

The GuardianBringing even older Macs up to speed

The latest version of Apple’s laptop and desktop operating system OS X 10.11 El Capitan will genuinely speed up your computer, particularly if you’ve got an older Mac.

Many of the core apps have had a revamp. Notes now supports sketches and easy creation of checklists; if you have an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, or end up buying an iPad Pro later this year, you’ll be able to access the pressure-sensitive sketches created on those devices from your Mac, too.
